All Hallows Church and St Matthew & St James Church Allerton, part of the Mossley Hill Team of churches, have recently received the Bishop’s permission to admit Baptized Children to Holy Communion before Confirmation.
After full discussions with all church members and the receiving the Bishop’s permission, 35 children and young people, from All Hallows, enjoyed a preparation course held on Wednesday evenings where they explored belonging to the church and being invited to the Lord’s Table. On Sunday 15th June they received certificates and Bibles at their first communion. It was a very special time for not only those admitted but also family and friends. The children had their workbooks blessed and they ’signed’ a final song, with the words:

As we go now from this moment
As we leave behind out time together
May we walk with one another
May we help each other on the way.
As we go now from this moment
As we go into the future together
May we treasure one another
May we realise how precious we are.

After this very moving service everyone enjoyed food and fellowship.
