Mother Love

Liverpool Cathedral Sat 20 March 2004

Over 500 children & their families joined the Diocese of Liverpool Mothers’ Union and Church Growth & Ecumenism Team to celebrate 100 years of Liverpool Cathedral and The International Year of the Family. Crafts, face painting, hair-braiding and badge-making were available all day and the stages provided lively music and songs, dance and puppets.

At 2 pm the Dean of the Cathedral, Bishop Rupert Hoare, pulled out the first of many prize winners in the SuperMum Draw. Hundreds of children had nominated their mums for this, and huge boards displayed all the SuperMum sheets. A new children’s cathedral trail was created for the day and the theme of Mothering Sunday was well and truly celebrated, with mothers wearing ‘SuperMum’ labels and everyone else wearing ‘I’m Super Too’ labels!

Many thanks go to all those who helped with the planning and preparations, who prayed, and all who worked so hard on the day. Thanks go especially to:
